About Us
Since 1965, Pilcher’s Ambulance Service has dedicated itself to providing the citizens of Dothan and the surrounding area with the most advanced, professional emergency medical care available. It is a tradition that we are very proud of and is continued by each generation of Pilcher Ambulance employees.
Pilcher’s, a hometown business, was founded by Joe H. and Ruby Pilcher in June of 1965. Today it remains the oldest state licensed ambulance service in Alabama. Mr. Pilcher is considered a pioneer in the development of emergency medical services in Alabama and the southeastern United States. Striving to keep up with the growth, the company moved to several locations before settling in its present location. Starting with 3 ambulances and just enough personnel to staff them, Pilcher’s began to grow. We now operate 15 ambulances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have also added 12 wheelchair vans to our fleet.
